Mr. Tony Morris Edwards, 74

Mr. Tony Morris Edwards, 74, of Hazlehurst, passed away March 14 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Tony was born Nov. 11, 1951, in Douglas to the late Mervin Edwards and Maxine Minix Edwards. Tony was preceded in death by his sisters Loretta Edenfield and Paula Connor and brother Glenn Edwards.
Survivors include sister Vonda Hernandez and brother Kerry Edwards.
In 1971 Tony married the love of his life, Linda Grantham. That same year he answered the call to serve his country and joined the Army until 1973. Tony continued his commitment to the military by serving for another 5 years in the Army Reserves. They have one daughter, Valerie Lee Dover; grandchildren Gina Dover Googe (Adrian), John Cody Barber and William Ryan Barber; and great-grandchild Sawyer Googe.
Tony was a man who valued the simple things in life: hard work, good conversation, spending time in his yard or building something in his shop. Tony was very meticulous and detail oriented no matter what the task. Tony was also an avid hunter. He enjoyed target practicing and shooting his bow with his brother Kerry.
Friends and family were invited to the viewing March 17. The service followed with the Rev. Kory Gordon officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Alex Grantham, Carson Grantham, Adrian Googe, Robert Grantham, Robert Dover and Wayne Crosbys.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
