Mrs. Grace C. Ray, 96

 

Mrs. Grace C. Ray, 96, of Hazlehurst, passed away Aug. 14 at her home under the care of Community Hospice.
Mrs. Grace was born May 23, 1928, to the late Joe Madison Cooper and Luella Johnson Cooper. She was born in Glenwood and attended school in Lumber City where she met her husband Wibur Owen Ray. The family moved to Miami, Fla., after she was married. She later moved back to Lumber City and then to Brunswick before settling in Hazlehurst, where she had lived for the last 30 years. She loved to play cards and could beat anyone she played against. She loved to fish and to travel. She was a Methodist by faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Larry) Yockey of Titusville, Fla.; grandchildren Dawn Michelle Yockey of Titusville, Fla., and Deborah Marie Johnico (Melody) of Pflugerville, Texas; great-grandson Jett Johnico of Pflugerville, Texas; and a grand-dog, Kingsley. She is also survived by a sister, Ann Yawn of Waycross.
Services were held Aug. 19 with the Rev. Robert Beckham officiating. Interment was in Glenwood City Cemetery.
Miles Funeral Home was in charge.
