Qualifying opens Monday

Qualifying for the City of Hazlehurst and City of Denton municipal elections begins next Monday and runs for three days.
In Hazlehurst, the Aug. 16-18 qualifying is for the Ward 1 and Ward 2 City Council seats. the Qualifying fee is $72 for both races.
In Denton, the qualifying is for Mayor ($54) and council members ($36).
Candidates wanting to qualify may do so at the Jeff Davis Board of Election’s office, Suite 107, at the Jeff Davis County Courthouse, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Both general elections will be held Nov. 2.
