Hazlehurst teen dies in accident

A Hazlehurst teen died in a two vehicle accident last Friday afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Pat Dixon Road at its intersection with Jimmy Boatright Drive.
Bobby Lee Rainey Herrington, 19, died in the accident. He was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his sister, Whitney Shree Herrington.
According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, Ms. Herrington, 16, of Hazlehurst was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt west on Pat Dixon Road when the vehicle traveled onto the north shoulder of the roadway. The driver over corrected and the vehicle traveled back onto the roadway. She over corrected again traveling back off the north shoulder of the roadway and over corrected a third time and traveled back onto the roadway, rotating counterclockwise. The vehicle crossed the center line into the eastbound lane into the eastbound path of a 2015 Nissan NV200 driven by Charles William Crowder of Swainsboro. Crowder’s vehicle struck the right side of Ms. Herrington’s vehicle.
