COVID spiking in SE Georgia
According to the latest information from the Georgia Department of Health, the number of confirmed new cases of COVID-19 in Georgia continues to climb and the hot spot in the state appears to be in southeast Georgia.
While two counties in west Georgia have been particularly hard hit — Stewart and Chattahoochee — most of the counties with high rates of infection are in southeast Georgia — Camden, Coffee, Evans, Toombs, Bacon, Montgomery and Tattnall all have rates per 100,000 population over the last two weeks that top 500. Statewide the rate is 223 per 100,000.
