Memorial Day Ceremony Returns

The Jeff Davis County Veterans Association will hold its annual Memorial Day program May 31 at 10 a.m. in Veterans Square Park. The public is invited to the ceremony that will include patriotic songs and guest speakers.
“We weren’t able to have the ceremony last Memorial Day because of the pandemic,” says Roy Anderson, president of the Veterans Association. “We’re grateful that the nation has healed enough for us to have the program this year, as it means so much to our veterans, past and present, and their families.”
Tents and chairs will be set up for those needing shade or a place to sit during the program. The Honor Detail, consisting of members of the Veterans Association, will be on hand to lay flowers at the Wall of Honor that lists the names of 32 local veterans killed in action since World War I.
Please direct questions to Anderson at 912-375-5361.
