Trio Indicted For 2014 Double Homicide
The Jeff Davis County Grand Jury last week returned murder indictments against three men charged in the 2014 shooting deaths of a Hazlehurst man and his mother, and returned a second degree murder charge in connection with the 2020 death of a 3-month-old infant.
Indicted for the shooting death of Javonnie Mondrae Chambers, 41, and his mother, Mary L. Chambers, 64, were Gerald Jermain Wright, Brandon Dante Hardaman, and Robert Benjamin Brown. All three face multiple charges in connection with the shootings, including malice murder and felony murder.
Jessica Lynn Gay was indicted on a charge of second degree murder in connection with the July, 2020, death of her infant son, Dalton Aiden Lane Hand.
The Chambers’ shooting occurred May 16, 2014, at the Chambers residence on Harrison Nook in Hazlehurst. Five years later, in 2019, the trio was charged by law enforcement officers. Wright, 41 at the time, was incarcerated at Baker Correctional Institute in Sanderson, Fla., Brown, 35 at the time, was incarcerated at J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway, S.C., and Hardaman, 31 at the time, was taken into custody by the Jacksonville, Fla., Sheriff’s Office.

Roy Winston Kight: Count 1: Sale of Methamphetamine.
Jeremy Joe Steverson: Count 1: Aggravated Assault; Count 2: False Imprisonment.
