Nathan Saunders Wins Again
The last few months, National Beta member, Nathan (Nate) Saunders, from Jeff Davis Elementary School has been working hard to prepare for the National Beta Virtual Convention. On July 17, he was able to celebrate that hard work when he was announced as the 5th grade National Champion in the area of Science.
Nathan originally competed and received awards during the State Convention held in Savannah in December, 2019. His victory at the state level provided an opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention, originally planned to be held in Fort Worth, Texas, was cancelled due to health and safety concerns stemming from the Coronavirus pandemic. However, over 12,000 Junior Beta (grades 4-8) and Senior Beta (grades 9-12) students were able to represent their schools in the first National Beta Virtual Convention.
Nate represented Jeff Davis County Schools as a national champion for the second consecutive year in the area of science. Thanks to The Theatre of Hazlehurst for hosting family and friends for the award announcement. Nate is the son of Nathan and Bonnie Saunders and big brother to Daniel.
