Mr. Byron Lawrence Allen, 44

Mr. Byron Lawrence Allen, affectionately known as “B.A.”, was born Sept. 30, 1981, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Larry and Helen (Agurs) Allen.
Byron later made his home in Hazlehurst where he graduated from Jeff Davis High School. In 2009, he earned his Master Cosmetology License and went on to become the proud owner of Designer Tapes Barbershop. Through his work, Byron not only built a successful business but also created a place where community, conversation and friendship thrived. He was well-known for his dedication to his craft and for the connections he built with everyone who sat in his chair.
Byron was a loving son, father, husband and proud grandfather, who cherished his family. He had a warm personality and a lively sense of humor. Those who knew him will always remember his favorite saying, “It is, what it is,” a phrase that reflected his outlook on life and his ability to keep moving forward through any situation.
Survivors include his loving wife Gwanda (Thompson) Allen; parents Larry and Helen (Agurs) Allen; sons Malik Allen, Aahiyus Allen and Bacarehe Allen; grandchildren Ky’ree Allen, Milani Allen and Kenai Allen; aunts and uncles Marilyn (James) House, Alice (Theodore) Davis, Rosie (Charles) Jackson, and Sherrie (Clayton) Horn; and a host of cousins, extended family members and friends, who will forever cherish his memory.
Byron’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the family he loved and the community he helped shape. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A viewing was held March 14 at King Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
