Mr. Jeffery Leland Bohannon, 59

Mr. Jeffery Leland Bohannon, 59, of Hazlehurst, passed away March 3 at his home.
Jeff was born Oct. 4, 1966, in Hazlehurst, to Faye Rewis Crews and the late Leland Albert Bohannon. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1985 and went on to build a life defined by hard work and determination. He owned and operated Golden Isles Diesel Shop on Highway 341 in Hazlehurst before later working with Williams Brothers Trucking, where he drove a truck for several years and eventually supervised their mill in Madison. He also owned and operated a lawn care business, always willing to put in whatever work was needed to provide and stay busy.
At the time of his passing, Jeff was employed at The Dumpling Shop, where he formed special friendships with Tim Callaway, Patricia Selph Boone and Rusty Mosley. Rusty often referred to him as a “jack of all trades,” a compliment that made his mother especially proud. The Dumpling Shop crew became his second family; they loved him deeply, and he loved them in return.
Jeff was a hardworking, big-hearted man who would gladly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister Lynne Hyers; paternal grandparents Ike and Lottie Bohannon; maternal grandparents Glenberry and Willie Mae Rewis; and uncle Timmy “Bones” Rewis.
Survivors include his son Chase (Azucena) Bohannon of Social Circle; daughter Jordi Bohannon of Social Circle; mother and stepfather Faye Rewis Crews and Stephen Crews of Hortense; brothers Steve Bohannon of Hazlehurst and Spencer (Michelle) Crews of Kingsland; sisters Sharon (Pat) Nelson of Maldrove, Okla., Tammy Toler of Alma, Lesley (Brett) Sell of San Antonio, Texas, and Stephanie Crews of Kingsland; grandchildren Maci Davis and Sophia Sell of Texas, and Anslee, Emilee and Kyleigh Hyers of Hazlehurst; brother-in-law Greg Hyers of Hazlehurst; and special nephews Robert “Rabbit” Edwards of Oklahoma, Duck (Amanda) Hyers and Matt Hyers, all of Hazlehurst.
Services were held March 6 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Daniels and the Rev. Randy Manning officiating.
Burial followed in Satilla Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Duck Hyers, Matt Hyers, Hector Mendoza, Colby Hughes, Andy Edge and Raymond Boone.
