Mrs. Eleanor O’Conner Campbell, 83

Mrs. Eleanor O’Conner Campbell, 83, of Hazlehurst, passed away Feb. 25 at her home surrounded by her family, under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice.
She was born April 4, 1942, in Montgomery County to the late Syders and Ethel Letitia Davis O’Conner. She was a resident of Jeff Davis County for the past 56 years and a member of Hazlehurst First Methodist Church. Eleanor spent many years serving as a caregiver to relatives and lending her kind heart and help to countless others. She loved cooking for her family and friends and later in life found joy in helping prepare and serve meals through her church. She also found great purpose in quilting and with the help of her quilting group made many quilts for the residents of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Macon.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jack N. Campbell; her son Jack E. Campbell; daughter Suzanne Campbell; grandson Paul Creech; brother Ray O’Conner; sisters Eloise Roberson and Bobbie Jean Edge.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter Angela Campbell of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Christopher Campbell of Hazlehurst, Jennifer Lyles (Jerry) of Adrian, Leah Harper of Royston and Ann Johnson (Jason) of Cochran; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters Pamela Eubanks, Wanda Gail Yawn (Greg), Janice O’Conner; brother Michael O’Conner; and a great number of wonderful nieces and nephews; She was a second mother to John Burnette (Laura), Jack Burnette (Rebecca), Patricia Brown (Ricky), Roy Burnette, Jeffery Burnette and Donna Thomas.
Services were held Feb. 28 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin Merritt officiating and music rendered by the ev. Jeffery Spell.
Burial followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Doug Murphy, Mark Bush, Shawn Todd, Jeff Evans, Jerry Lyles, Brian Sellers and Ken Sellers.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
