Mr. Richard Allen ‘Puggie’ Smith, 60

Mr. Richard Allen “Puggie” Smith, 60, of Hazlehurst passed away Feb. 26 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Puggie was born Jan. 11, 1964, in Washington, D.C., and was a former construction worker. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Stone Sr., mother Sherry Breeden Franks, and nephew Brandon Hand. He was a simple man who loved spending time at home with his family and was a prankster.
Survivors include his lifelong partner Susan Creamer of Hazlehurst; daughter Bambi Towns of Scotland; son Allen Smith of Hazlehurst; sisters Connie Sue “Susie” (Eugene) Hand of Hazlehurst, Judy “Dinkie” (Stacy) Swanson of Fitzgerald, and Amy (Billy) Hughes of Hazlehurst; brothers, Eugene “Peewee” (Tonya) Stone of Fitzgerald and Donnie Stone (Tonya Morris) of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services were held Feb. 29 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Hunter Brewer officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were J.R. Daniels, Colby Hughes, Jason McEachin, Randy Hesters, Brooks Hesters, and Justin Fisher.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
