Jeff Davis High’s girls fell to a couple of strong teams Friday and Saturday of last week as they lost 64-34 to Fitzgerald Friday in Fitzgerald and battled to the end Saturday in Hazlehurst before succumbing 52-38 to Thomasville.
Fitzgerald doubled the Lady Jackets’ offensive output in each of the first two quarters Friday night as the Lady Hurricanes took a 32-16 lead into the dressing room at intermission.
The hostesses continued to pull away in the second half to take the 64-34 win.
Brylee Wyatt hit 5 3-point shots and led the Lady Jacket scoring with 17 points. Bree Coney also scored in double digits with 13 points. Marlee Burch and Zijanna Mincey added 2 each.
Kiardi McDuffie topped Fitzgerald with 12 points.
Saturday night n Hazlehurst, Thomasville built a 35-18 halftime lead but, in the 2nd half, the Lady Jackets began to chip away at the Lady Bulldogs’ lead and cut Thomasville’s lead down to as little as 7 points before the visitors began to pull away at the end.
Wyatt and Coney led the 2nd half surge and Anna Grace Alligood scored all 8 of her points in the 2nd half.
Coney finished with 17, including a pair of 3-pointers, Wyatt had 11, hitting 3 shots from beyond the arc. But only three Lady Jackets scored in the game.
Harmony Bryant topped Thomasville’s scoring with 20 and Jayla Brooks chipped in 12.
