Bishop Robert Lee Fryer Jr., 78

Services for Bishop Robert Lee Fryer Jr., who died July 31 at Lumber City Nursing and Rehab Center, will be held Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Jeff Davis Youth Center on Young Street. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at King Brothers Funeral Home.
Bishop Fryer was born April 12, 1943, to the late Robert Lee Fryer Sr. and the late Bennie Lou McDuffie Fryer in Telfair County. He was the second born out of ten children and the oldest son. Also preceding him in death was his sister Glenda Ann Nesbit, grandparents Nathaniel and Simmie Bell McDuffie, father-in-law Willie Smith Jr., mother-in-law Berthola Smith, sister-in-law Lena Mae Smith, brother-in-laws Henry Franklin, George Peterson, Francis Paulk, and Levi Rozier.
Bishop Fryer attended Telfair County Schools and graduated from Hazlehurst High School in 1964. He received an Associates Degree of Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary, and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Sound Doctrine Bible Seminary. He served many years as an advisor to the Head Start Council, Concerted Services, Inc., and The Anointed End-Time Women Warriors.
He joined Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church in Hazlehurst where he worked faithfully. He was pastor of Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church, Hazlehurst, House of Prayer, Tarrytown, Moore’s Chapel, Milan, Standing on the Solid Rock Holiness Church, Uvalda, and was Bishop and Overseer of the House of God Church of the Living God Gates of Heaven in Georgia and Texas for many years.
Survivors include his wife Annie Mae Smith Fryer, Hazlehurst; daughter Tonda Logreta Fryer Parham(Ernest) of Lagrange; sons Thaddeus Marcel Fryer of Atlanta and Brandon Fontane Fryer of Green Bay, Wisc.: grandsons Elijah Jerell Parham, Jonathan Terrell Parham, Kamal Rashaud Parham, Jaylon Marcel Fryer, of Lagrange; granddaughters Lonydn Latrice Fryer of Lagrange, and Lonydn Nevaeh of Augusta, Jasmine Fergerson of Atlanta; daughter-in-laws Gwendolyn Fryer Milton, Lakeitha Gay, Angel Fryer, and Tameka Mitchell; sisters Josephine Coates, Orlando, Fla., Hannah Mae Franklin, Kingsland, Bennie Taylor (Robert) and Prophetess Lydia King, Hazlehurst; brothers Horace (Delorise) Fryer, Hazlehurst, Jerry (Katherine) Fryer, Kingsland, Mikell (Margaret) Fryer, Phenix City, Ala., Leon (Teresa) Fryer, Lithonia; sister-in-laws Willena (Tommie) Moss, Shirley Pearl Smith, of Hazlehurst, Mattie Mae Miley, Charlotte Peterson, of Detroit, Mich., Juanita Rozier, Hazlehurst, Rosie Lee Paulk, of Baxley, Nina (Walter T) Johnson, of Hephzibah, Josephine (Carl) Howard, of Dublin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, god daughters and godsons, saints, and friends.
He leaves a special thanks to Dr. Michael Grego, Kevin Grego, Dr. Frank Bixler and Staff, Dr. Turf and The Lumber City Nursing Home and Rehab for a job well done.
