Mr. George Pickren, 89

Mr. George Pickren, 89, of Hazlehurst, died Aug. 20 at his residence.
Mr. Pickren was born May 21, 1931, in Jeff Davis County to the late Elijah Pickren and the late Rose Rowland Pickren. He was formerly employed with Otis Elevator, Amercord and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia P. Pruitt and son, George Lavan Pickren.
Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Ruby Taylor Pickren, of Hazlehurst; son, Wade Pickren of Brunswick; sisters, Carrie Walker of Jacksonville, Fla., Bessie Tuten of Nashville, Tenn., Marion O’Conner of Hazlehurst and Dora Jean Lewis of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Aug. 24 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Wilcox and the Rev. Jinker Horten officiating.
All family and friends in attendance served as honorary pallbearers.
