Mr. John M. Newman, 89

Mr. John M. Newman, 89, of Snipesville, died Dec. 12 at his residence.
Mr. Newman was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Jeff Davis County to the late Elias Newman and the late Marie Smith Newman. He was a veteran of the United States Army, Korean Conflict, a retired owner and operator of Newman Logging and a faithful member of Macedonia Church of God. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Melaine Newman Simmons.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Carolyn Anderson Newman of Snipesville; son and daughter-n-law, Clay M. and Johnsie C. Newman of DeLeon Springs, Fla.; sisters, Jean Carolyn Steptoe of Snipesville and Lurine Kirkland of Jonesboro; brothers, Donnie C. (Betty) Newman of Snipesville and Garry L. (Sue) Newman of Snipesville; grandchildren, John Casey Newman (Kayle), Rachael Morgan Newman and Sarah Caroline Simmons Mikell (Cody); great-grandson, Carter Newman; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Dec. 16 at Macedonia Church of God with the Rev. Van McCall, the Rev. Robert E. Varnadore and the Rev. Grey H. Roberson officiating. Interment followed in Palms Memorial Garden with military honors.
Active pallbearers were Dwayne Anderson, John Casey Newman, Tyler Newman, Chris Newman, Terrell Anderson, Gene Anderson, Todd Anderson, and Mike Anderson.
Music was rendered by Angie McCall and Darrell Wright.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
