Mrs. Malissia Pearl Smith (Yawn), 66

Mrs. Malissia Pearl Smith (Yawn) of Denton moved to her Heavenly home March 22. Her funeral was March 24 at Denton Baptist Church.
Malissia was born Nov. 18, 1952, as the only daughter of C.H. and Mary Davis Yawn. Mrs. Smith spent most of her time caring for her family. She spent several years working at Lumber City Nursing Home in the dietary department. She especially enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren. Of her hobbies, one of her favorites was cooking for her family and socializing with them at her home.
Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jackie Smith of Denton and her two sons John Smith (Shyla) of Syracuse, N.Y., and Jack Smith (Dawn) of Douglas and one daughter Mary Ileen McEachin (Shon) of Hazlehurst; granddaughters Dagan Askew (Austin) of Denton, Emalee Smith of Tifton, and Ashley Walker of Etowah, Tenn., and grandsons Alex, Eli, Samuel, and Joshua McEachin of Hazlehurst, Koehn Smith of Perry, and Juan and Mario Smith of Syracuse, N.Y.; great-grandsons Aiden Askew of Denton and Dregan and Dash Walker of Etowah, Tenn.; two older brothers Chester Yawn (Doll) and Edward Yawn of Hazlehurst; and a host nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 24 at Denton Baptist Church with the Rev. Van McCall and the Rev. Randall Kersey officiating. Interment followed in Denton Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Lumber City Nursing Home.
Active pallbearers were Colby Herrin, Alex McEachin, Keith Rea, Matt McCall, Sherman Taylor, and Bobby Taylor.
Music was rendered by Angie McCall and Dagan Askew.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
