Mr. Earl James Haggard, 85
Mr. Earl James Haggard, 85, of Lumber City, died March 11 at his residence.
Mr. Haggard was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Tahlequah, Okla., to the late Jess James Haggard and the late Dolly Belle Hale Haggard. He was a retired veteran of the United Sates Army serving tours in Vietnam, Korea, Germany and Greece and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his son, Danny Varnadore.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ward Haggard; daughters, Vecha (Poopsie) Williams (Jimmy White), Darice Varnadoe and Debbie Outlaw; son, Jonathan Earl Goss (Taylor Goss); six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 13 at Springhill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Niles Dixon officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery with full military honors.
Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Powell, Bradley Ivey, John Stinson, Ronnie Hester, Mike Varnadoe, Johnny Burkett, Charles Mincey, Leonard Hart and Phil Tysinger.
The military served as active pallbearers.
Music was rendered by Martha Jane Livingston.
