Mrs. Mary Lou Harmon Johnson, 71

 

Services for Mrs. Mary Lou Harmon Johnson, 71, who died Sept. 30, were held Oct. 6 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church in Hazlehurst.
Bishop Maxwell Thomas and Bishop Michael McElroy officiated the service with burial at Hazlehurst Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Johnson, born in Colquitt County, Georgia, was the daughter of the late Emma Lou and Melzie Harmon. She was employed by Jeff Davis Board of Education at Jeff Davis Primary School for 30 years. She was also an active member of Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church. Mrs. Johnson loved cooking and taking care of her family. She had an infectious smile and witty humor. Three siblings preceded her in death – Belzie Harmon, Melzie Harmon, and Dennis Broody.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Johnson; son, Claude Harmon (Michelle), two daughters, Sakeenah Williams (Bryan), Monique Harmon and one step-son, Marcus Johnson; one step-daughter, Pamela Howell; three grandsons, Gabvile Williams (Shameka), Adrian King, and A’mari Harmon, and one granddaughter, Octavia King; five brothers, Eddie Harmon (Helen), Freddie Harmon (Veronica), Joe Harmon (Miranda), Bobby Harmon, Ricky Harmon; four sisters, Zonia McMillan (John), Lula Harmon, Rosie Hansley (Johnnie), and Lizzie Harmon, and a host of relatives and friends.
Music was rendered by The Benjamin Family, Johnny Myles and De’Andre Saincine.
Active pallbearers were Lindsey Harmon, Terry Davis, Timothy Hansley, Johnny Myles, James Oliver, and Glenn Hansley.
Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church.
Thornton’s Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
