Mr. Samuel ‘Sam’ Lewis Moon, 82

Mr. Samuel “Sam” Lewis Moon, 82, of Alma passed away suddenly at his residence Oct. 17.
Sam was born Dec. 7, 1935, to the late Samuel Tribble Moon and Bertie Adrian Overstreet Moon. His first wife, Mary Jacqueline Moon, a son, Tim Moon, brothers, Bobby and Donald Moon and sisters, Betty Hartless and Carolyn Moon, preceded him in death. He was retired from McKenzie Tank Line, served in the U.S. Marines and was a member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Nell Parker Moon; sons, Steve Moon and wife Jan, Gabriel Stewart Moon of Alma; daughter, Tammy Dale and husband Lamar of Broxton; brother, Ed Moon of Hazlehurst; sisters, Linda Pritchett of Hazlehurst, and Jo Ann Ford of Vidalia; grandchildren, Shandi Dykes, Hailey Spivey, Rhett Dale and Chelsie Moon; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 19 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Rhett Dale, Jonathan Dykes, Lamar Dale, Doug Anderson, Shane Parkerson and Troy Parkerson. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Overstreet, Dr. Harrison Carter and Steve Collins.
