Mrs. Dorothy Hester Smith, 87

Mrs. Dorothy Hester Smith, 87, of Hazlehurst, died Sept. 29 at Bryant Nursing Center in Cochran.
Mrs. Smith was born May 12, 1931 in Jeff Davis County to the late Riley Hester and the late Viola White Hester. She was retired from Ashley’s Outlet and Elton’s Décor and was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richey Smith and sons, Ward Smith and Kenneth Smith.
Survivors include daughters, Janice Bruce of Dublin, Susan Foskey of Bonaire, Rena Waters of Hazlehurst and Teresa Harper of Lyons; several nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Oct. 2 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were grandsons, Clay Mead, Ashley Waters, Brad Harper, Rusty Harper, Nick Allen and Richey Smith.
Musical selections were rendered by Jan Foskey and Terry Hester.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
