Mr. James Edward Leggett, 76
Mr. James Edward Leggett, 76, of Hazlehurst, died June 16 at Jeff Davis Hospital, under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.
Mr. Leggett was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Appling County to the late Ira Lee Leggett and the late Ollie Mae Griffin Leggett. He was the owner and operator of Leggett Builders and member of Liberty Community Church of God.
He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law EucuLee Bass and father-in-law, W.R. Bass.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Bass Leggett of Hazlehurst; daughters, Teresa Leggett Redman (Don – deceased), Kris Leggett, Kayla Leggett, special daughter-granddaughter, Kelsee Leggett; sons, James Edward Leggett Jr. (Jimmy) and Jay Edward Leggett (Kimberly); sisters, Ruby Lewis (Richard) and Jeanette Smith (Bill); brothers, I.J. Leggett (Rosa Lee), Maxwell Leggett (Eula) and Charlie Leggett (Peggy); four grandchildren Shyenne Leggett, Cade Leggett, Kayla Leggett and Kelsee Leggett; great-grandchildren, Kinslee Leggett, Kristopher Spikes, Kelvin Spikes Jr. and papa’s side kick, Karson Randi Hill; special sister-in-law, Martha Feller; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 19 at Liberty Community Church of God with the Rev. Virginia Herrington and the Rev. John Nunes officiating.
Interment followed in Leggett Family Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Sheriff Preston Bohannon, Police Chief Ken Williams, and all members of Liberty Community Church of God.
Active pallbearers were Stacy Leggett, Jason Leggett, MC Leggett, Lamar Leggett, Larry Atkinson and Roy Baucom.
Musical selections were rendered by Deborah Taylor and Sara Tanaka.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
