What If They Win? — By John Reed

What If They Win?
Years ago I owned a beagle that loved to chase rabbits. He never succeeded in catching one, but I always wondered: what would he do with it if he actually caught one? The same question could be posed to the Democratic Party. What if they actually won control of Congress this year and the presidency two years from now?
Plenty of conservative noisemakers paint pictures of Armageddon, as is to be expected. These days the shrillest voices get the most attention. So instead let’s use the words from Democrat candidates themselves.
From various public sources, Democrats would:
—kill the Electoral College.
—disband the Senate.
—diminish the power of the Supreme Court and the Executive branch.
—dismantle the southern and north borders.
—eliminate any sort of immigration control including ICE and other enforcement agencies.
—disband police and other law enforcement groups.
—eliminate private home ownership.
—nationalize food production and distribution, as well as other industries such as tech, transportation, and energy.
I’m sure I missed a few things in the social milieu like education, gender, welfare and more.
Those who know me understand I’m not a raging Trumper by any means…his policies often go too far and he’d do better if he just closed his mouth more often. But what’s become of the opposition defies belief.
These people cannot be called leftists, socialist, or even communists anymore. The complete and total chaos advocated by these people make them anarchists. I don’t consider myself a Chicken Little pessimist by any means, but common sense tells me that any society without boundaries becomes no society at all.
So what’s the alternative? Two or six more years of Trump and his brand of conservativism? Both sides have moved so far away from the middle it’s very hard to find any common ground. And despite the bloviating from the internet, television, and what’s left of the press, I’m convinced the vast majority of the electorate is more or less apolitical. They just want common sense, fairly-enforced laws and the opportunity for the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness guaranteed to us all, not just a few at the top.
