Class A, Division 1 State Track Meet

The GHSA Class A, Division 1 State Track Meet began Monday in Athens. In Tuesday’s action, freshman Savannah Robinette and junior Ava Bohannon represented Jeff Davis High in the girls discus throw. Robinette qualified for the event with a throw of 105-4, the 7th best throw in the competition, and Bohannon was the second highest qualifier with a throw of 120-1. Banks’ County’s Marleigh Dale topped all qualifiers with throw of 130-6.
Bohannon also qualified in the shot put with a throw of 33-10.5.
Lady Jacket senior Anastasia Sirmans qualified in the pole vault with a vault of 7-6.
James Benjamin qualified in the long jump with a leap of 21-1.
Kobe Hill is in the shot put competition with a qualifying throw of 45-2.
Xavier Reyes is in the state finals in the boys discus with a throw of 125-2.
Brayden Maddox will represent Jeff Davis in the pole vault with a qualifying height of 9-6.
Messiah Swinson is in the boys triple jump finals with a distance of 43-9.
The Lady Jackets 4 x 800 relay team qualified for the state finals with a time of 10:40.46, the 8th best time in the finals. Members of the team are Ellie Kate Marchant, Laysie Lewis, Avery Haley, Jade Franco, Christina Wilcox and Laysie Lewis.
The JD boys 4 x 800 relay team has the 14th best qualifying time. Members of the team are Mario Franco, Will Morris, Luke Relihan, Peyton Hamilton, Carter Yawn and Jesse Galvan.
In the boys 4 x 200 meter relay, Jeff Davis’ team qualified with a time of 1:29.79. Members of the team are James Benjamin, James Bryant, Mark Durden, Messiah Swinson, Keilyn Biggins, Jaron Cochran, Markell Durden and Jaiden West.
Three Lady Jackets qualified in the 1600 meter run. Ellie Kate Marchant is the No. 12 qualifier, Avery Haley is No. 15 and Laysie Lewis No. 16.
Jaiden West is in the boys 400 meter dash with time of 51.14.
Ellie Kate Marchant is the No. 6 seed in the girls 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.33.
Jade Franco is the No. 13 qualifier in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:56.95.
The Jeff Davis boys 4 x 400 meter relay team is in the finals with a qualifying time of 3:28.22. Team members are Kailyn Biggins, Mark Durden, Preston Godwin, Jaiden West, Lee Shivers and Jaron Cochran.
