Mr. Jerry Edward Toler, 70

Mr. Jerry Edward Toler, 70, of Hazlehurst, passed away Jan. 30 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
He was born April 10, 1955, in Jeff Davis County to the late Willie Edward Toler and Viola Rowell Toler. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served during the Vietnam war. At the age of 20, he met the love of his life, Deborah, and they were married soon after. He retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation, where he worked for 30 years as a boiler technician and proudly served as a Union Committeeman. In his retirement years, he held other jobs that kept him busy.
During his time residing in Jones County, he coached youth sports and mentored many young athletes. He was devoted to pouring time and love into the children that he interacted with. After retirement and raising their family in Jones county, he and Deborah returned to Jeff Davis County. He served the Lord with all his heart and regularly attended Parkway Baptist Church. He encouraged his social media family daily with scriptures and songs.
Jerry was a true patriot, proud Republican and avid military enthusiast. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his extended family unconditionally. He wore red on Fridays in honor of all his fellow veterans. He loved animals, especially his lap dog, Zoe.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Larry Toler and Gary Toler.
Jerry is survived by his wife of over 49 years Deborah J. Toler; son William E. Toler; daughters Katina M. Robinette (Chris), Melanie T. Kimler (Seth) and Bethany M. Pointer (Daniel); brothers Terry Toler, Perry Toler, Barry Toler and Derry Toler; grandchildren Christina Coleman (Cameron), Mackenzie Toler, James Kimler, Lexi Toler, Davis Kimler, Layla Toler, Savanna Robinette, Sadie Pointer, Danny Pointer and Liz Robinette; and great-grandson Waylon Coleman.
Graveside services were held Feb. 3 in Satilla Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Miller officiating and military honors rendered by the Jeff Davis County Veterans Association.
