Untitled design – 1

Mr. George Edward Irwin Jr., 87, of Hazlehurst, passed away Jan. 20 at his home.
Mr. Irwin was born Dec. 3, 1938, in Wilmington, Del., to the late George Edward Irwin Sr. and Florence McKeowen Irwin. He had lived in Hazlehurst for over 50 years and worked as an ironworker throughout his career. Through his work, he helped construct many notable landmarks across the country, including the Delaware Bridge and the Playboy Mansion.
In his later years, Mr. Irwin enjoyed being outdoors, spending time in his yard working and building. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his happy and humorous nature, his deep love for family, and his straightforward personality — always telling it like it was.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Irwin was preceded in death by his wife Pamela Jean Green Irwin; son William Irwin; brothers Bobby Irwin, Butch Irwin, Donald Irwin, Richard Irwin and Kevin Irwin; and sister Anna Irwin.
Survivors include his son Johnnie Tupman (Lisa) of Hazlehurst; granddaughters Deej Dukes (Lee), and Brydjette Peacock (Colby), all of Hazlehurst; great-grandchildren Kolyn Dukes, Raylyn Dukes, Lakelynn Dukes, Damieyen Peacock, Riddick Peacock, Anna Grace Dukes, Charliee Dukes, Adalynn Dukes and Waylon Barr; and special bonus family Bobby and Pam Dukes, Billy and Tessa Dukes, Gage and Bre Dukes, and Katlyn and Chase Barr.
A memorial service will be held later.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge.
