Mr. Milton “Milt” Chambers, 77

Mr. Milton “Milt” Chambers, 77, of Hazlehurst passed away peacefully March 31. Born Aug. 10, 1947, in Hazlehurst, he was the son of Mamie Lou Chambers and Marion Mink Chambers.
Milt attended Jeff Davis High School before furthering his education through the Job Corps, where he developed skills that shaped his strong work ethic. He dedicated over 30 years of service to Hazlehurst Mills, earning a reputation for his reliability and commitment.
Milt was known for his generosity and love for his community. An avid cook, he took great joy in preparing meals for others, whether in his backyard, at church events, or community gatherings. His passion for gardening allowed him to provide fresh vegetables to family and friends, and he was always willing to lend a hand — whether cutting grass for churches or assisting anyone in need.
Milt had a way of making people feel special, often giving friends and loved ones nicknames, a testament to his warmth and playful spirit. His presence was one that brought joy, and he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mamie Lou and Marion Mink Chambers; brothers James Lee Chambers and Roy Lee Chambers; sister Christine Chambers; and son Milton “Pete” Chambers.
Survivors include children Cornelius (Calendre) Chambers, Savalis Martea Chambers, Samajay Diamond, and Sula (Roeneil) Williams; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Milt will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Homegoing services were held April 6 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church in Hazlehurst. Elder Eddie Harmon presided. The Rev. Greg Crawford delivered words of comfort.
