Mrs. Shirley Nabors

Mrs. Shirley Nabors passed away peacefully July 10 at her home in Hilton Head, S.C., under the care of her family and Crescent Hospice.
Shirley now rests in the arms of our Lord and is reunited with her late husband Richard Nabors, daughter Kim Nabors and much-loved family and friends who have gone before her.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn Gorrell (Mike); grandchildren Noah Gorrell, Bella Gorrell, Lilah Gorrell and Ashley McEachin (Eric); and great-grandchildren Kade Mills, Korin McEachin and Kyla McEachin.
Born in Warrenton, Shirley met her husband Richard while they were both working in Atlanta. They married in 1961 and moved to Hazlehurst, Richard’s hometown, where they raised their daughters. They lost their older daughter Kim in 1995 and were blessed to help raise their granddaughter Ashley. Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In the 1980s she worked at Triple H, but most would remember her from her many years at the jewelry counter of Walmart. She thoroughly enjoyed the social aspect of the role and loved it when people stopped by just to say hello and catch up.
Following the death of her husband Richard after 59 years of marriage, she moved to an independent living community near her daughter Lynn. She spent three wonderful years and many laughter filled hours with her beloved friends there.
Truly a sweet and deeply kind soul, Shirley brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
She was formerly a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. For the last three years, she attended St. Andrew By the Sea Methodist Church in Hilton Head.
Services were held July 13 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.
Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Eric McEachin, Mike Gorrell, Noah Gorrell and Kade Mills.
Music was rendered by Zack Johnson.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
