Rev. Grey Holt Robinson, 87

The Rev. Grey Holt Robinson, 87, was born and raised in Lakeland, Fla. After being called to the ministry as a teenager, he accepted Christ at the age of 24 and followed God’s calling of full-time ministry for 52 years. As a Lee College student, he married Linda, his wife of 58 years.
After graduating, he pastored across Kentucky, Ohio, North Dakota, Georgia, and Tennessee. He was a master carpenter and could often be found creating beautiful buildings, remodeling businesses or homes, or constructing furniture. He assumed the general contractor role while building new church buildings in Thomasville and Chickamauga.
Transitioning from full-time ministry in 2000 was a difficult decision made due to his vision loss, but Grey found joy in a retirement job at Lowes, where he developed special friendships. In retirement he embarked on mission trips, serving churches and an orphanage abroad.
An inaugural member of the Lee Singers, he was born to sing. Music was a cornerstone of his ministry. He recorded a beautiful album early in his ministry. He was a passionate teacher of the Word and music, teaching choirs across the South. His base voice was easy to distinguish.
While not a man of giant stature, his personality filled every room, and he always wanted to be in charge. He pursued being relevant in ministry, singing in the choir at Westmore Church of God.
Grey is preceded in death by his parents, A.E. and Mary Agnes (Jenkins) Robinson, in-laws Earnest and Ann (Todd) Lewis, and sister, Agnes (Robinson) Sanders. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; daughter, Ami; son-in-law, Jeff; grandchildren, Jeff Jr., Brianna, and Hudson Grey; sisters, Mary Louise Selph, Linda Gilmer (David), and Margie Platt (Richard); brothers-in-law, Shelton Lewis and Charlton Lewis (Paulette); numerous nieces, nephews, and his adopted Barnett family.
