Margaret ‘Wilbur’ Kirby

The earthly journey of Margaret “Wilbur” Kirby began April 13, 1952, in Coffee County and came to a quiet closure Sept. 16.
Margaret was born to the late Willie Wilbur and Bessie Wilbur. Margaret graduated from Mary Flemings High School. She fell in love with Eddie Kirby Sr. and they married Dec. 4, 1971. To this union, four children were born, Eddie Jr., Jermaine, Patrick, and Todrick. She retired from Edwards/Swans Pie Factory after many years of faithful service. Margaret loved shopping, traveling, and baking cakes. She was known as “Queen of the Red Velvet.” She was a loving and caring person who never had a problem about keeping it real. She was the only girl of eight children so that made her THE BOSS. She was always protective of her family because family meant the world to her. She was a loving wife, grandmother, and a dear friend to many.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; son, Todrick Kirby; and brothers, Willie Earl Wilbur, Larry Wilbur, Jimmy Wilbur, Frank Wilbur, and James Wilbur.
Survivors include children Eddie Kirby Jr. (Little Eddie), Jermaine Kirby, and Patrick Kirby; grandchildren Shannon Kirby, Shakira Washington, and Patrick Washington; great-grandchild Sa’Nora Slaton; siblings Calvin Wilbur (Karen), Ronald Wilbur (Nikki), Virgina Kirby, and Dorthy “Dot” Kirby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services were held Sept. 23 at Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst.
