Mrs. Patricia ‘Patsy’ Brantley, 87

Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Brantley, 87, of Hazlehurst, passed away Feb. 20 at her home under the care of Coastal Hospice, surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Hazlehurst to the late Johnny Strickland and Ruby Hickox Strickland. She was a lifelong resident of Jeff Davis County and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Patsy loved cooking, gardening, putting up vegetables and working puzzles. She was especially known for decorating beautiful cakes for birthdays and special occasions, a talent that brought joy to so many. A devoted homemaker, she was hardworking and took great pride in caring for her family and home. She was happiest when her family was all together, cooking and hosting gatherings filled with love and laughter. Her grandchildren fondly say she always “made mountains of food,” making sure no one ever left her table hungry.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Lott Warren “L.W.” Brantley Jr.; and her son Rodney Brantley.
Patsy is survived by her son Larry Brantley (Pannee) of Hazlehurst; daughters Laura Newton (Dewey) of Statesboro and Robyn Robertson (Todd) of Macon; brothers Roger Strickland (Jennie) of Bainbridge and Sidney Strickland of Hazlehurst; sister Johnnie Zarzeka (Steve) of Atlanta; grandchildren Madison Rowland (Jack), Macy Brantley, Anna Walker (Brandon), Abby Andress (Wilson), Rachel Hofheinz (Josiah), Sara Robertson, Rusty Brantley (Chellsea), Houston Brantley, Collin Brantley and Kalin Brantley; and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 23 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Tyrone Hutchinson officiating.
Burial followed in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Josiah Hofheinz, Brandon Walker, Wilson Andress, Rusty Brantley, David Fernandez, Sean Strickland, Stacey Strickland and Jack Rowland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Jeff Davis County Veterans Association, P.O. Box 263, Hazlehurst, Ga. 31539.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
