Mrs. Ellen Louise Turner ‘Nana Ma,’ 89

Mrs. Ellen Louise Turner “Nana Ma”, 89, of Glenwood, died March 19 at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.
She was a native of Toombs County living most of her life in Hazlehurst. She graduated Glynn Academy in 1951 and worked with the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier in Appling and Wheeler Counties for more than 20 years. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved reading, crossword puzzles, gossip papers and especially spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Talmadge Turner; parents, James Marshall Casteel and Nancy Iola Isdell Casteel; brothers, Clinton Hood, James Hood and Jessie Hood; sisters, Ruth McKenzie, Myrtle Hood, Julie Whitaker; and a grandson, Trey Ford.
Her family includes one stepson, Carol Eugene “Pete” Turner of Savannah; daughters, Tammie Turner Ford and husband Bobby of Five Points, Chrystine Turner and husband Bobby Sinclair of Glenwood and Melissa Gonzalez and husband Carlos of Baxley; sister-in-law, Rosa Bowen of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Delayna Turner and husband Stephen, Cody Turner and wife Miranda, Levi Ford, Makayla Pfau and husband Lee, Samuell Gonzalez and wife Jennifer, Tony Gonzalez, Issac Gonzalez, Anna Beckworth, Trey Sinclair and wife Desiree, and Chas Sinclair and wife Barb; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends she called family.
The funeral will be March 22 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst.
