Mr. Comer Woodard ‘C.W.’ Register Jr., 78

Mr. Comer Woodward “C.W.” Register Jr., 78, passed away Sept. 5 at home surrounded by loved ones after a 10-year battle with prostate cancer.
Mr. Register was born July 29, 1948, in Cook County. He was the only son of the late Helen and Comer Register. He graduated from Cook County High School in 1966 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Valdosta State College. He worked briefly at Nashville Mills in Nashville before moving to Hazlehurst, where he worked at Hazlehurst Mills for over 30 years. After retirement, Mr. Register focused his energies on “The Farm,” a plot of almost 120 acres he owned with great pride, where he planted trees (pecan, pine, poplar, white oak), maintained his pond (stocked with catfish and bream), and puttered about with his four beloved tractors.
Survivors include his son Thomas Register; daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Adam Cicora; grandsons William, Evan and Joshua Cicora; and sister Lynda Maine. Other meaningful people in his life include Juanita Register, Misty Durrance, Skyler Dykes and Shelby McCullar. Mr. Register was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sandra Spikes.
Visitation with the family will be Sept. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home. His cremains will be interred at Longbridge Cemetery in Berrien County.
