Mr. Edward Jackson Hughes, 74

Mr. Edward Jackson Hughes, 74, of Hazlehurst, died at his residence Jan. 30.
Mr. Hughes was born March 10, 1948, in Jeff Davis County.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Onis Hughes and Vera Mae Sellers, Hughes, Haynes, McNeal, sons, (twins) Edward Jackson Hughes Jr. and Corey Hughes, daughter, Angela Sue Hughes Rowland, sister, Essie Mae McNeal, and brother, Carlton N. Hughes.
He loved fishing, was an avid reader, enjoyed reading old westerns, and enjoyed watching them on TV. He was a practical jokester, always making people laugh, one of the best shade tree mechanics there was, plus a great paint and body shop man. He enjoyed drag racing and participating and in his older days, he enjoyed watching the sport on TV. He will surely be missed by his family.
Survivors include his wife Edna Towns Hughes of Hazlehurst; son, Edward Tyler Hughes of Hazlehurst; daughters, Pamela Dukes (Bobby) of Hazlehurst and Shonda Carver of Hazlehurst; brother, Fulton Hughes of Glenwood; sister-in-law, Sandra Hughes of Hazlehurst; sisters, Gail Thornton, JoAnn McNeal and Belinda Carter (Bo Pete) all of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Lee Dukes, Billy Dukes, Gage Dukes, Colby Hughes, Chelsea Rowland, Jaden Sapp, and Carlie Colson; great-grandchildren, Kairi, Kolyn, Lakelyn, Raylyn, Annagrace; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held Feb. 2 at Satilla Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
