Mrs. Ruth Adams, 84
Mrs. Ruth Adams, 84, of Uvalda, died Dec. 31 at Memorial Health in Savannah, following a brief illness.
She was a native of Jeff Davis County, growing up in Denton, attending Denton school, and was a 1956 graduate of Jeff Davis High School where she maintained perfect attendance for 12 years. She lived in Uvalda most of her life and was member of Charlotte Community Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Amos Thomas Ellis and Mamie Burkett Ellis; brother, Thomas Ellis; nieces, Gayla Harper and Lisa Crumpton; and nephews, Keith Harper and Kent Harper.
Her family includes her husband of 66 years, Lyman Adams; sons, Leland Adams and wife Helen, and Jeff Adams and wife Joanna, all of Uvalda; sister, Nell Harper of Denton; sister-in-law, Deanie Ellis of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Wesley, Amanda, Travis, Dallas, Shelby, Lindy and Austin; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Gavin, Braxton, Tegann, Maddix and Kendyl; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Jan. 3 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Phillips and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial followed at Conner Cemetery near Uvalda.
Pallbearers were Travis Adams, Wesley Adams, Blake Galbreath, Frank “Tator” Simpson, Can Clark, Clayton Knowles, and Raymond Strickland.
