Mrs. Barbara Rea, 86

Ms. Barbara Rea, 86, of Hazlehurst, died Oct. 19 at Meadows Hospital in Vidalia.
Ms. Rea was born on Oct. 27, 1935, in Hart County.
Ms. Rea is preceded in death by her parents, Penic Brown Sanders and Elvie Lelia Greenway Sanders, husband, Clyde Rea, daughter, Brenda Rea Dean, brothers, Charles Greenway, Max Sanders, Alton Sanders, sisters, Imogene Browning and Patsy Graham.
Ms. Barbara was a nurse employed with Chapman’s Nursing Home.
She loved gardening, especially caring for her roses. She was totally devoted to her family. She often commented, “I love my family and my family loves me.” It was special to her for the whole family to gather in her home. She was a strong protector of every member of the family…. They called her their angel on earth.
Survivors include sons, Glynn (Brenda) Rea, and Clyde Donald (Valarie) Rea; daughters, Shirley (Ronnie) Stone and Michelle Rea (Burtis) Taylor; sisters, Carol (William) Seebeck, Mary (John) Thomas, and Peggy (Bill) Pfeifer; son-in-law, Johnny Dean; grandchildren, Pam (Hugo) Reyes, Marie Beecher, David Rea, Keith (Sandy) Rea, Barbara Ann Boatright, Shari Rea, Jennifer (Carl) McCullar, Melinda Rea, Kim (Eric) Rivas, Donald Rea, Christopher Rea Toler; 23 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Oct. 22 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Josh Carter officiating.
Interment followed in Union Springs Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Donald Rea, Jesse Webb, Gunner McCarty, Carl Clyde McCullar, Dalton King, Christopher Rea Toler, Tre` Rea, and Matthew McCullar.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
