Mrs. Anne Dawson, 77
With great sadness, the family of Peggy “Anne” Dawson wishes to inform you of her passing Dec. 17 at the age of 77.
Mrs. Dawson was born Dec. 27, 1944, in Putnam County to the late Emory Tucker and Charlotte Wallace Tucker. Anne grew up in Eatonton and graduated from Putnam County High School. She attended college at Georgia State College for Women. Shortly after, she met her husband John on a blind date. They married and moved to Hazlehurst where she worked by her husband’s side as they embarked on opening the local State Farm agency.
She then spent greater than 30 years pursuing her passion of teaching children at Jeff Davis Primary School. Anne not only loved the joy of teaching children to read but also the relationships and lifelong friendships she shared with her co-teachers. At the age of 74, she retired from Jeff Davis County School System. Outside of work, she fondly devoted her time and love to her family. Her hobbies included reading short stories, hiking, fishing, and traveling with her husband; watching her grandkids at sporting events, and most importantly spending time with her dog Scooter. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst where she enjoyed being a choir member and attending her Ladies’ Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years John Dawson and her sister Claire.
Mrs. Dawson is survived by her sister Daisy Evans of Spartanburg, S.C.; son Bill Dawson (Wendy) of Tifton; daughters Cathie Dawson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jennifer Stinson (Joey) of Dublin, and Kimberly Jackson (Jeffrey) of Milledgeville; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Music was rendered by Vic Brantley.
