Mr. Johnny Rex Hand

“It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Johnny Rex Hand of Vienna passed away Oct. 22 in Statesboro surrounded by his family. Rex will forever be remembered as a shining light who welcomed friends and strangers with open arms. Rex enjoyed watching wrestling and shared his love for horses with everyone around him. No life is so free as the life we see. As the lonesome sun is setting on his last ride, he will smile knowing it’s not the end of his trail. ‘Let’s ride my friend.’ ”
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Glenda Sellers, sisters, Arlie Mae Hand, Shirley Faye Hand, Rose Marie Hand, and JoAnn Jeffcoat, brothers, Austin Hand and Jimmy Roger Hand.
Survivors include sons, Johnny Rex Hand Jr. (Stefanie) of Fleming and Stephen Doc Hand (Alexis) of Statesboro; daughters, Shana Belle Sellers (Virgil) of Statesboro, Nicole Shaw (David) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Velina Gail Bragg of Hazlehurst; brothers, Doffis Hand (Shirley) of Hazlehurst and Jack Hand (Venita) of Douglas; sister, Loretta Harder (Frank) of Bonaire; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
