Deacon James E. Vann Sr., 89

Deacon James E. Vann Sr. departed this life Sept. 20. Deacon Vann was born July 5, 1933, in Baxley to the late Horace and Mary Vann.
He was a member of New Jerusalem Witness unto the Lord Church under the leadership of Overseer Sarah R. Mims.
Deacon Vann was married to the late Clara Lee Vann and they had seven children.
Deacon Vann was preceded in death by his loving wife Clara Lee Vann; sister Sadie Vann; brothers Clayton, Claxton, Lester, Emory, Buster, and Baron Vann.
Survivors include sons James Vann Jr. (Betty), Robert Vann of Baxley and Lee Willis Vann of Graham; daughters Gloria Hill (Jimmy) of Baxley, Betty Wallace (Virgil), Graham, Cassia Cooper, Baxley, Elouise Conaway, Hazlehurst; grandchildren Chris McMillan, Teddy Vann, Cynthia Ryals, Serria Godfey, Donovan Chatman, Ferdinand Gibbs, Frances Ellis, Kevin Cooper, Chelsea Thompson, Maiya Conaway, Jasmine Cooper; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother Findley Vann; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held Oct. 2 in Morgan Chapel Church Cemetery, Graham.
