Mr. Ray Harold Wooten, 77

Mr. Ray Harold Wooten, 77, of Hazlehurst passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home Sept. 19.
Ray was a hard-working, successful business owner and also served Jeff Davis County as a County Commissioner and Chairman for a number of years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching golf and football on TV. Ray loved to visit and laugh with his family and friends.
Mr. Wooten is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Evelyn Wooten and brother Donald Wooten.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Patricia Conner Wooten; step-daughters Angie Fussell Varnadoe and Kathy Fussell Brinkely; grandchildren Zac Newham, Blakelee (Grant) Merritt, Courtney Knowles (Clayton), Grant Brinkley and Layla Brinkley; nine great-grandchildren; brothers Thomas (Dorothy) Wooten and Olin (Miriam) Wooten; sister Winona Hartung; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. in Wainright Parlor Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Palms Memorial Garden.
Active pallbearers are Zac Newham, Grant Brinkley, Grant Merritt, Clayton Knowles, Van Wooten and Francisco Hernandez.
Honorary Pallbearers are all his wonderful friends in attendance.
The family will gather at 71 First Road, Hazlehurst.
The Wooten family and Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home respectfully ask all in attendance to continue to follow social distancing guidelines set by the local health district and the CDC.
