Ms. Marjorie Mullis Smith, 91, of Hazlehurst, died Sept. 8 at her residence.
Ms. Smith was born Nov. 17, 1930, in Rentz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Wendell Mullis and Amie Register Mullis, husband, Odis Carroll Smith, daughter, Marlene Smith Strickland, and granddaughter, Pam (ChaCha) Brown.
She was a faithful member of Hazlehurst Church of God until her advancing age and declining health prohibited her from attending regularly. She loved her church family.
During her life, she had many jobs, (Hazlehurst Mfg. for 19 years, Big House Restaurant for eight years, and owner and operator of The Sewing Nook for 30 years), which enabled her to form relationships that became lifetime friends. She had a smile for everyone she would meet.
She retired at age 80 but continued working at home. She enjoyed working with her flowers and continued cutting grass at the age of 90. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She had a gentle spirit, humble and compassionate, and will be missed by her family.
