Mother Elizabeth Alderman Knox, 103
Mother Elizabeth Alderman Knox was born in Baxley July 27, 1919, to the late Ellis Alderman Sr. and the late Martha Croon Alderman. She passed into eternal rest Aug. 30 at home.
Mother Knox was educated in the local schools in Georgia. She worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad where she retired after many years. She was an active member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the senior choir, and was the mother of the church for decades.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Lee Knox Sr.; daughters Barbara King, Laretta Holmes, Margie Kelley, Geneva Knox; sons Cecil Knox, Elijah Knox Sr., Johnnie Lee Knox Jr.; siblings James Alderman Sr., Arthur Alderman, David Alderman, Daisy Alderman, Roosevelt Alderman, Beulah Alderman Smith, Queen Esther Alderman Hansley, Ellis Alderman Jr., Lelia Alderman Brown, Isabelle Alderman Biggs, Thomas Sylvester Alderman, Clara Alderman Carter.
Survivors include son Archie Harold Knox and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held Sept. 10 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church.
Interment was at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
