Mr. Ronnie Junior ‘J.R. Smith, 67

Mr. Ronnie Junior “R.J.” Smith, 67, of Hazlehurst, passed away Aug. 31 in Baxley.
Mr. Smith was born Jan. 24, 1955, in Wayne County and was a member of Big Oaks Church of God. He was a retired truck driver and was preceded in death by his father, Frank Smith, and brothers, Tony Smith, Paul Smith and Danny Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Kesha Latham of Baxley; sons, Shawn (Jennifer) Smith of Baxley, Ron (Sarah) Smith of Avon, Ind., and Robbie Smith of Waycross; mother, Betty Smith of Lumber City; sisters, Donna Jean Griffin of Hazlehurst, Vicky (Kenneth) Murray of New London, N.C., and Janet (Johnny) Burkett of Lumber City; brothers, Glenn (Pam) Smith of Mt. Vernon and Gary Smith of Lumber City; aunt, Sue Ann Simmons of Alma; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 4 from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Bishop Tim Fulmer, the Rev. Alvin Merritt and Chris Nail officiating.
Interment was in Appling Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Joe Carter, Daniel Smith, Brenton Smith, Dusty Herndon, Blair Latham and Kevin Mann.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Herndon, Johnny Burkett, Greg Herrin, Jeff and Patricia Williams, Ronnie Branch, Joe Davenport, Jimmie and June Sellers, Georgia May Creamer, Gerri Spell, John and Sandy Oxendine, Johnny and Virginia Herrington, Glenn Crummey, Carroll and JoAnn White, Joan Brannen Crosby, Patsy Giddens, Marilyn Gribble, John and Glenda Cannon, J and S Farms Transport, Fast and Dirty Accessories and Repair, Charlie Leggett, Corey Tyre, Phil Tyre, MHC Kenworth, Beth Atkinson, Terrell and Karen Richardson, Darrell and Bonnie Williams and Robert and Debbie Taylor.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
