Ms. Joyce White Dykes, 88
Ms. Joyce White Dykes, 88, of Hazlehurst died Aug. 20 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Ms. Dykes was born Sept. 30, 1933, in Telfair County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Grady Edward White and Emma Estelle Hatten White, husband, John Walker Dykes (the love of her life) and a brother, Edward Eugene White, brothers-in-law, Joe Hester, Dale Swope, Jim Pete Dykes, special aunt and uncle, Orris and Mattie Powell, with whom she is eternally reunited with.
She was retired from Ero Industries and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Even though, Ms. Joyce was small in stature, she had so much charm, grace, a sweet disposition, kind words and a smile for everyone she came in contact with. Mr. John was the love of her life and they were always together, when possible. She loved her church, she was family oriented and loved them dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Her life has come full circle, she is with the love of her life again.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Don Rollins of McRae; granddaughter, Heather (Brad) Dixon of McRae; brothers, Perry (Pat) White of Lumber City, Donnie (Libby) White of Lumber City; sisters, Faye (Billy) Stapleton of Warner Robins, Barbara Hester of Hazlehurst, Linda Swope of Michigan, June Yawn of Lumber City, Patty (Ronnie) Pickren of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Aug. 23 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Baldwin and the Rev. Deek Dubberly officiating, with eulogy given by her sister, Linda Swope. Interment followed in Palms Memorial Garden.
Honorary escorts were Chase Shannon, Sean McGraw, Sawyer Rowell, Reece Wilcox, Rhett White, BJ Collins, Chandler Roberson, Remington Roberson, Landon Roberson, Jaxson Adams, Stuart Swope and Blake Swope.
Active pallbearers were Royce White, Randy Stapleton, Clay White, Brent White, Rusty White and Chan Roberson.
Music was rendered by Jeffery Spell and Kayla Chesnut.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
