Mrs. Shirley Ann Evans, 65

A memorial service for Mrs. Shirley Ann Evans, 65, who died Aug. 20 at Jeff Davis Hospital, will be held Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Carter officiating.
Mrs. Evans, born in Miami, Fla., was the daughter of the late Clayton and Elizabeth Rowland. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Wesley Gregg Evans. Mrs. Evans was a retired accountant, who proudly served in the U.S. Navy working for the Pentagon before being transferred to Annapolis where she met Gregg, the love of her life. Gregg was a Vietnam Veteran, a Purple Heart Recipient and a journalist for the U.S Navy. She was a kind and loving person devoted to her son, Nickolas and his wife, Lizz. Her granddaughter, Keira, was the apple of her eye and spending time with her brought Shirley much pleasure.
Survivors include her son, Nickolas (Lizz) Evans of Front Royal, Va.; granddaughter, Keira Evans of Front Royal, Va.; brothers, Ronald Rowland (Margie) of Stanford, Fla., Donald Rowland (Sylvia) of Bristol, Tenn. and Kenneth Rowland of Hazlehurst; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the local Veterans Association. Family will gather at 73 Latimer St., Hazlehurst.
