Mrs. Rosalyn Jeynelle Strickland

Mrs. Rosalyn Jeynelle Strickland passed away at the age of 80 July 5.
Jeynelle was a devoted mother, grandmother and lifelong educator. Jeynelle’s faith was central to her life and values. She was born in Telfair County to Enmon and Thelma Mathew. She married Wilburn Strickland in 1959 and lovingly raised two children, Thomas Strickland and Belinda Jorgenson.
Jeynelle earned a master’s degree in business education in 1972 and taught high school and vocational school students for over 40 years. She took a personal interest in her students, many of whom she maintained contact with in later life. Many of her closest friends were fellow teachers. Jeynelle enjoyed traveling and took advantage of every opportunity to see the world or drive across the country. She had a dry sense of humor and appreciated beauty, especially flowers, birds, and jewelry. But, her greatest passion was the close relationships she had with her six beloved grandchildren.
Jeynelle is preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by her sister Jeanette (Wendell) Mims and brother Ralph (Beatrice) Mathew. She is survived by her son Thomas (Remy) Strickland, daughter Belinda (Fred) Jorgenson, and six grandchildren Natalie Strickland, Michelle (Harrison) Peacock, Elizabeth (Ryan) Jorgenson, David (Katie) Jorgenson, Emmett Jorgenson, and Ray Jorgenson along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held July 30 at 2 p.m. at Salem Funeral and Cremations, 2951 Reynolda Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Reynolda Gardens through their website https://reynolda.org/. Online condolences may be made through www.salemfh.com.
