Mrs. Hazel I. Eason, 81

Services for Mrs. Hazel I. Eason, who died June 18, were held June 27 at The Word International Worship Center, Inc., with Pastor Janice Watkins officiating. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lumber City.

Hazel was born in Lumber City March 19, 1941, to the late Thad and Ardell Stokes. Four sisters preceded her in death, Johnnie Mae, Hilda, Yvonne and Janice.
Hazel was educated in Telfair County Schools. She was a basketball player and prior to graduation, married Willie Robert Eason at the age of 15. She was preceded in death by her husband just short of their 40th wedding anniversary. To this union was born two children.
After leaving Lumber City for Cleveland, Ohio, Hazel took on several jobs including, soda shop attendant and key punch operator/data entry prior to her final position as a manager for a credit counseling firm.
Hazel worked lovingly for the Lord for over 25 years at Christian Fellowship Center in Cleveland as an usher, intercessory prayer warrior and Women in God’s Service. After moving back to Georgia, she became one of the Mothers at The Word International Worship Center, Inc. She loved her new found p[astors, church members and especially the praise and worship.
Survivors include children Tony (T-Bone) Eason, Tonyia (Charles) Collins; grandchildren Tiana Collins, DeAngelo (Kym) Collins and Michael Jones; great-grandchildren Kaleb Robinson, Nicolas Collins and Jeremiah Archie; siblings Alice Faye Tuggles and Althonia Stokes; brother and sister-in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephew family and friends.
