Mr. Patrick (Rick) Rainey, 57

Mr. Patrick (Rick) A. Rainey, of Hazlehurst, passed away Aug. 1.
He was born April 20, 1965, in Hazlehurst and raised there all his life. He attended Jeff Davis Elementary and High School.
Patrick was married for a brief time to Tonya Ware. To this union one blessing was added: Patrick A. Rainey Jr.
He served one tour of duty with the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his mother Regina Rainey Kornegay.
He is survived by his son Patrick A. Rainey Jr., of San Antonio, Texas; father, Calvin (Mickey) C. Kornegay of Hazlehurst; sister, Lalita N. Kornegay Greene (Victor) of Rancho Cucomonga, Calif.; brothers, Irzorial (Eric) F. Kornegay (Tiangela) of Atlanta, Calvin (Papa) C. Kornegay III (Joyce) of Killeen, Texas.
Celebration of life services were held Aug. 7 at St. James A.M.E. Church in Hazlehurst with the Rev. Donnie Smith officiating and delivering words of comfort.
Family and friends served as active pallbearers and flower attendants.
Thornton’s Funeral Home was in charge.
