Ms. Imogene Shuman, 85
Ms. Imogene Shuman, 85, left her earthly body and began her everlasting life March 22 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Telfair County Nov. 13, 1936, to Foster Powell Sr. and Eliza Mathis Powell, the 4th of 6 Children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 51 years George lee (G.L) Shuman; daughter, Deloris Shuman Davis; granddaughters, Casey Cherie Shuman, Dianne Davis Rowland; brothers Foster Powell Jr. and James Powell; and sisters, Inez Hipps and Billie Faye Knowles.
She is survived b sons, Oral (Linda) Shuman, Steve (Marie) Shuman, and Greg (Tammy) Shuman all of Hazlehurst; brother Robert Powell of Lumber City; grandchildren Derek Shuman, Kerri Slaughter, Jeremy Shuman, Jenna Harper, Neil Shuman, April Brown, Wadis Davis and Dewayne Davis; several great-grands and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Ms. Shuman was a faithful member of Bridgeford Church of God since 1957, until her advancing age and declining health prohibited her from attending regularly. She loved her church family and had a lifetime of friendships gained there. She was primarily a wife, mother, and homemaker, but worked as a seamstress, doing alterations for The Colony Shop and Berryhill Cleaners for a season.
She was very creative and enjoyed a variety of crafts. Until her last hospitalization she was still making wreaths for her door. She changed them with every season or holiday. She enjoyed working with her flowers if she was able. She loved all kind of flowers of all different types. She enjoyed people and loved to laugh
Funeral Services were held at Brideford Church of God on Friday, March 25, 2022 beginning at 12:00Pm.
Officiating were Rev. Jeremy Deloach, Rev. Milton Thomas, and nephew Terry Powell.
Active pallbearers were Grandsons and great grandson, Derek Shumans, Jeremy Shumans, Neil Shumans, Wadis Davis, Dewayne Davis, and Dylan Davis. Honorary pallbearers were all friends and family in attendance.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
