Mrs. Jeanette Osburn Taylor Powell, 91
On April 19, God called home his faithful servant Mrs. Jeanette Osburn Taylor Powell, 91, of Hazlehurst. She was surrounded and dearly loved by her family. She was a lifetime resident of Jeff Davis County.
Jeanette was born Aug. 19, 1930, the daughter of John and Mattie Osburn of Roper. She was one of 10 siblings. Preceding her in death are her childhood sweetheart and husband of many years Wiley Monroe Taylor of Hazlehurst and husband Jerry Powell of Lumber City, brothers, Horace Osburn, John Randall Osburn, Leo Osburn, Curtis Osburn, Wayne Osburn and sisters Christine Schell, Maude Dixon, twin Kathleen Lewis, Anera Harrell.
Survivors include children Brenda (Bill) Wasmund, Jack Taylor (Kim), Carl Taylor (Rhonda), Dwayne Taylor (Shelia), all of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Paul Taylor (Beth) of Newnan, Travis Taylor (Caity), Zachary Taylor (Caramie), Benji Taylor, Jordan (Tess) Taylor of Hazlehurst, Ryan (Kandiss) Taylor of Baxley, and Josh (Susan) of Raleigh, N.C.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her passions were her family and church. Serving God and family were a priority in her life. She was a member of Liberty Church of God in Bacon County. She loved the church family and being a part of it. She was a wife, mother, Sunday school teacher, mentor, advisor and supporter. She was a homemaker and provider, caring for all she contacted. She loved music and singing in the church choir. She never read music, but could free hand piano playing to any gospel song with a smile. She lived as an example of her faith and was focused on the salvation of the people she loved. Nothing pleased her more than a house full of family gathered for any occasion. She leaves behind a legacy to follow and a void that cannot be filled.
The family extends gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and administration of Jeff Davis County Hospital and Hazlehurst Court Care and Rehab Center for their care and compassion. Also, a sincere thank you to our very special friend and loved niece Mary Lee McLoon for her comforting companionship and assistance.
Services were held at Philadelphia Baptist Church April 22. Speakers were the Rev. Leon Guest, Bill Wasmund and Paul Taylor. A graveside service followed in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were grandsons Travis, Zachary, Benji, Ryan, Jordan and Josh. Honorary pallbearers were members of Liberty Church of God of Bacon County.
Music was rendered by Angie McCall and grandsons, Ben and Ryan.
